County approves bids for mowing
By Michael Tidemann - Staff WriterThe Emmet County Board of Supervisors Tuesday awarded mowing quotes for county garages and the county annex in Estherville.
The bids awarded were for each mowing and tied bids were awarded to previously awarded bidders. The awarded bids included:
n Armstrong, Gaylen and Susan Zeman, $39.
n Ringsted, Zeman, $19.
n Wallingford, Shane Abrahamson, $30.
n Estherville, Abrahamson, $20.
n Gruver, Abrahamson, $30.
n Annex, Abrahamson, $20.
The board set 9 a.m. March 10 as the date for a public hearing on the county budget.
The board also approved spending up to $5,000 on outside accounting services in conformance of GASB45 requirements. The county is required by law to hire an outside consultant to examine county benefits other than pensions and health benefits.
In his report, county engineer Roger Patocka said crews were shoveling back snow from right of ways and servicing equipment.
Emmet County Fair Board members appeared before the supervisors with their 2009-2010 budget request for $36,175. The county funded the board $34,945 for the current year.
Cami Paulson said the board had applied for a $50,000 grant from the state for a new building. The grant would require a $25,000 match. She said the board will also apply for a grant from the Emmet County Community Foundation.
The supervisors approved the fair board's budget request.
