Iven Albert Bisgard
GRAETTINGER - Funeral services for Iven Albert Bisgard, 58 of Graettinger, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery of South Walnut Township.
Iven lost his battle with cancer at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. on May 13.
Iven was born March 16, 1951, in Estherville, to Albert and Lois (Bensen) Bisgard. He was a 1969 graduate of Graettinger High School. After high school, he attended Sheldon Community College of Mechanics and Technology, University of South Dakota at Springfield, South Dakota and Jackson Technical College in Jackson, Minn.
Iven was united in marriage to Cindy Simington on Aug. 7, 1976, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. He worked for the Farmers Coop Elevator in Graettinger and Spencer Foods in Spencer, before working as an electrician for GKN-Armstrong Wheels in Armstrong. He later transferred to the Estherville plant where he was currently employed.
Iven was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and was a member of the Jaycees. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, woodworking, fishing, gardening and camping, but nothing was more enjoyable to him than spending time with his two grandsons Jordan and Koda.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Cindy, daughter Lacey (Mike) Saul, grandsons Jordan and Koda Saul, mother Lois Lundgren, sister LaVon Park, all of Graettinger, brother Paul (Pam) Bisgard of Nashua, two step-brothers Neil (Gayle) Lundgren of Reinbeck and Ted Lundgren of Washington, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Albert, infant daughter Heather, father-in-law Jerry Simington and two brothers-in-law James Park and Randy Simington.
