Ruth M. Rogers

ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Ruth M. Rogers, 80, of Estherville, will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, at First Christian Church in Estherville with Pastor Doug Burton officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 30, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Ruth Maude (Brown) Rogers, the daughter of Thomas and Maude (Pirce) Brown, was born April 7, 1929, in Estherville.

She received her education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School.

On Sept. 5, 1959, Ruth was united in marriage to Ronald Rogers in Estherville. The couple made their home in Estherville and Ruth was employed at J.C. Penney and also Gamble Robinson in Estherville as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Estherville. Ruth enjoyed bowling and playing softball. She also was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins and the Estherville Midgets.

Left to cherish Ruth's memory are her husband, Ron of Estherville; her children, Terry Hansen of Lakefield, Minn.; Karen Rogers of Estherville; Peggi Wudel and her husband, Al of Estherville; Lisa Rogers of Algona; two grandchildren, Megan and Mariah; and sisters, Doris L. Frick of Estherville and Joyce Nelson of Roseville, Minn.

Preceding Ruth in death were her first husband, Eugene Hansen; daughter, Becky Sue; her parents; sister, Vivian; and brother, Ora.
