James Chesley

ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for James Chesley, 85, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 30, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Lynn A. Potter officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. He died Friday, Nov. 27, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

James DeWitt Chesley, the son of Ery (Nick) and Luella (Harback) Chesley, was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Dunnell, Minn., Martin County.

He married Agnes Marie Linn on Nov. 11, 1947, in Jackson, Minn. James worked on various farms, also at the Naval Base in Lemoore, Calif. and he worked at John Morrells Co. in Estherville. He was an avid fisherman who loved his children, grandchildren, dogs and playing bingo. Most important was spending time with his friends and family.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Ronald (Elsa) Chesley of Subic Bay, Philippines; four grandchildren, Steven (Shannon) Chesley of Cuba, N.Y.; Stephanie (Joshua) Parr of Ft. Stewart, Ga; Angelia and Anthony Chesley of Subic Bay, Philippines; seven great grandchildren, brother, Alvin (June) Chesley of Hiawatha; sister, Nina Walterman of Jackson, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He has been preceded in death by his wife, parents, daughter, Sharon Longman, two brothers, Orville and Obert; three sisters, Blanche Landis, Ruby Pieper and Ivadell Steele.
