Bortvit crowned

Estherville teen eligible for Miss Teen pageant

The Miss Kossuth-Winnebago Scholarship Program announces Brittany Bortvit as Miss Kossuth-Winnebago's Outstanding Teen 2009.

Brittany is the 16-year-old daughter of Darryl and Sheila Bortvit of Estherville. She is a junior at Estherville Lincoln Central school. Brittany performed a vocal solo to "Probably Would Be this Way." Her platform is music therapy. Brittany was also awarded the People's Choice Award.

As Miss Kossuth-Winnebago's Outstanding Teen Brittany Bortvit now has the opportunity to compete at the Miss Iowa's Outstanding Teen pageant in Davenport June 1012, 2010. She also has the possibility of becoming Miss America's Outstanding Teen in Orlando, Fla. in August of 2010.

Amanda Post of Woden was named first runner-up. Amanda is the 13-year-old daughter of Allen and Susan Post. She is in the eighth grade at WCLT. Her platform was funnel chest awareness. She performed a lyrical ballet to "Mr. Bojangles."

Also competing was 16- year-old Sarah Roth. Sara is the daughter of Brenda and Robert Roth of Britt. She is a junior at West Hancock High School and her platform was building positive self-esteem in young teens and children. Sarah preformed a vocal solo to "My Girl."
