BENSON, Minn. - The Estherville Lincoln Central girls basketball team lost is first game at the Benson, Minn., Tournament on Saturday, 67-56, to host Benson.
Kelsie McCauley and Allie Sievert each had 16 points and Alyssa Johnson had 12 for the Midgettes.
"We have to be more consistent on defense," said ELC assistant coach Anne Fiene.
She said Benson hit three 3-pointers from the corner and another from the top of the key to build a nine-point lead. ELC couldn't recover.
The Midgettes (2-2) will play BBE in the second day of the tournament. They return home for Lakes Conference play and ELC Parents Night on Tuesday against Western Christian.
