Gerald Iseminger

POSTED: December 11, 2009

ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Gerald Iseminger, 69, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Gabbard officiating. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville. He died Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Avera Holy Family.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel.

Gerald "Jerry" Iseminger, the son of Harold and Irene (Timmons) Iseminger, was born Aug. 4, 1940, in Estherville.

Jerry started his school in Estherville and continued in Alaska where his family moved in 1954 (before Alaska became part of the United States). In 1958, he joined the U.S. Army and served his country in Korea and Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1961 on a hardship discharge due to his father's health.

On Dec. 19, 1964, he was united in marriage to Delores (Dee) McCormick. The couple lived in Spencer for 10 years, Spirit Lake for 10 years and has lived in Estherville since 1983. Jerry was a long distance trucker for most of his adult life having driven for Schultz Transit out of Winona, Minn., and Schuster Trucking of LeMars. He retired in 2003 due to health reasons. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing pool and cards, auction sales, cooking/grilling and especially enjoyed spending time and participating in activities with his grandkids trying to make up for all the time he missed out on his own kids' growing up years while he was on the road. He and Dee enjoyed their daily trips to Ft. Defiance to 'deer hunt' as they'd count how many deer they'd see each trip.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Dee of Estherville; two children, Tara Huntley and her husband Aaron of rural Estherville and Teresa Mohns and her husband Rich of Jackson, Minn. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Katie Jo, Brittany, Jorden, Zoey, Dakotah, Tiegan, Gavin, Ava, Landen and Brooklyn; a brother, Dick Iseminger and wife Carol of Mountain View, Mo., and a sister, Jeanette Rehard and husband Bruce of Canon Falls, Minn., also many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two faithful Chihuahuas (Boxer and Milo).

Preceding Jerry in death were his parents, a sister, Joy Johnson and a stillborn daughter.
