Weekend fundraisers a rousing successThank you, Emmet County!
For having fundraisers on two, consecutive nights, Emmet County showed everyone else how to make money by having a good time at the Wholly Grape & Ale event Friday night and the Emmet County Nature Center Foundation banquet Saturday night.
For starters, the Wholly Grape & Ale event Friday night at the Estherville Golf Course was a wonderful time. Folks turned out on the main floor for wine sampling and a delicious seafood buffet while downstairs they sampled various ales and feasted on some cajun delights, very apropos to the mardis gras theme. (By the way, whoever thought of the catfish and hushpuppies was an absolute genius.)
Thanks must go to the many sponsors and merchants who underwrote the cost of the event and donated raffle items.
The Emmet County Nature Center Foundation had equal success at its banquet Saturday night at the Estherville Elks Lodge. After a wonderful meal, everyone settled down and ran up some great bids on some wonderful items.
Neither event would have been possible without the incredible support of area businesses and individuals who paid for the cost of putting on each event which made them far more profitable. Thanks go as well to those who donated items, many handmade with obvious loving care.
As a result of the generosity of area businesses and patrons who attended both events, Avera Holy Family Health will be able to add much-needed equipment, improving quality care for its patients and the Emmet County Nature Center Foundation will be able to pay down the debt of the Nature Center, saving taxpayers money.
And we all will benefit as a result.
