OKOBOJI - It was a rough start to the season for the Graettinger/Terril volleyball team as the Knights lost six straight games while going 0-3 at the Okoboji Tournament on Tuesday.
G/T struggled against host Okoboji to open tournament play, losing 21-10, 21-12.
"(We) had a hard time matching up against Okoboji,"?said G/T coach Jeff Sansgaard. "(The Pioneers) out hit and out served (us) to an easy victory."
In their second match of the tournament, the Knights played much better against Spirit Lake in the first game, eventually falling 21-17, but struggled with serve reception in a 21-8 game two loss.
"(We) played a solid first game against Spirit Lake," said Sansgaard, "but really struggled in serve reception in the second game, dropping (our) first eleven points."
G/T rebounded in the third and final match against Cornbelt Conference foe Harris-Lake Park, but lost in straight games 23-21, 23-12.
Nikki Brown led G/T in kills with seven and also had seven digs on the night.
Lindsay Flaharty led the Knights with 11 assists and Hailley Nelson led with nine digs.
The Knights return to action Thursday, Sept. 9, as they travel to face Corwith-Wesley-Luverne.
