BOONE - The Algona girls swim team traveled to Boone on Tuesday night for a double duel with Boone and Perry. The girls lost to Boone 59-35 and beat Perry 57-35.
Against Perry first place went to Nicole Kenne in the 200 and 500 free style events, Hannah Priest in the 100 free, Missy Zadow in the 100 breast stroke and the 200 freestyle relay team of Zadow, Amber Schacherer, Alyssa Williams and Hannah Priest.
Against Boone first place went to Alyssa Williams in the 100 butterfly and 100 back stroke.
The 400 relay team of Schacherer, Kenne, Zadow and Priest won it all beating both Boone and Perry.
"The girls took control of the race early and just kept extending their lead." said Algona coach Jim Fischer. "They won by 27 seconds which was great.
"On the night of the 22 events we raced in, the girls improved their time in 19 of the events from last week. This shows them that the harder they work the faster they get."
This evens the teams record at 2-2 on the season. Next up for the girls is the first home meet at the Algona Y on Thursday, Sept.16.
It should be an exciting night as it is also senior night for the team's two seniors, Missy Zadow and Nicole Person. Come out and support the team.
