Please consider donating to the ELC school foundation

June 17, 2011
Estherville Daily News

Dear ELC Community,

I'm writing to you today on behalf of the ELC School Foundation Board for 3 very important reasons.

First, we recently received a very generous donation from a retired farmer, Stan Egertson, who decided to give something back to his community.

By using the ELC School Foundation, he was able to say exactly where he wanted his donation to go.

Stan has designated his contribution to remodeling the greenhouse on the ELC campus to benefit VocAg and FFA students.

Thank you, Stan.

We're very grateful for your contribution.

Because the ELC School Foundation is non-profit and not part of the ELC school system, we are able to designate funds without restrictions.

We work to improve the learning environment of our students and assist our educators with their important mission.

During the 2010-2011 school year, the Foundation was able to put more than $10,000 into the ELC system via scholarships, key grants, and through memorial donations.

Many employees of ELC donate routinely to the Foundation through a monthly payroll deduction.

Our primary fundraiser is our annual "Champions in Education" banquet held in September, and this is the second reason for our letter.

Each year, the Foundation Board acknowledges someone who has worked hard to make a difference in our schools.

This year, we are pleased to honor Tony & Jody Condon.

The Condons have shown over time their dedication to ELC, and they continue to work to improve our schools with their many fundraisers.

Mark your calendars, and please join us the last Tuesday of September at the Elks Lodge.

We hope to raise additional funds this year with a raffle.

We have 3 fantastic prizes to offer.

The first is a week's stay at a Cancun resort donated by Sue & Curt Dare.

Next, we'll set up the services of a cleaning person for one year.

Third prize will involve the catering services of Top Hat BBQ & Catering.

Board members will be selling tickets soon. One potential use of the money raised is to supplement the greenhouse remodeling project.

And third, the Board would also like to put out a request to alumni hosting reunions this summer and fall.

We have brochures available for distribution and a great website-www.elcschoolfoundation.com-please use these resources to donate to the Foundation.

In previous years, we've been fortunate to receive contributions for scholarships and memorial funds to use as needed.

Please consider donating to our worthy organization.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Lisa M Dreeszen, DVM

President, ELC School Foundation
