SUPERIOR - Graveside services for Leota Hoovel, 97, of Superior will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Superior Township Cemetery in Superior.
She died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at the Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
Leota B. (Barton) Hoovel, the daughter of Joseph Harley and Della Paulina (Kauffman) Barton, was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Larland.
She received her education in the Spencer schools, graduating from Spencer High School.
On Aug. 19, 1936, she was united in marriage to Floyd Sherman Hoovel in Fostoria. She worked as a clerk in a grocery store in Fostoria. Leota had a home quilt shop in Phoenix. The couple lived most of their life in Superior.
Leota was a member of the Superior Methodist Church since the early 1940's.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, DeVonna Mae Berhow of Fertile, Minn. and Bonnie Lee Freeman of Whitehouse Station, N.J.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and good friend, Maude Baker.
