Ray Fessler

RINGSTED - Funeral services for Ray Fessler, 79, of Ringsted will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted with Pastor Suzanne Wobig officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted. Interment will be at Ringsted Memorial Cemetery with military rites by Christiansen-Bonnicksen American Legion Post 382 of Ringsted.

He died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at his apartment in Fairmont, Minn.

Ray Lurhl Fessler, the son of Lurhl and Irene (Nicolson) Fessler, was born March 14, 1932, in Estherville.

He received his education in the Ringsted schools, graduating from Ringsted High School. Ray served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954.

On June 2, 1957, Ray was united in marriage to Elgene Anderson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. After the couple's marriage, they made their home east of Ringsted where they began raising their family and farming. In February of 1978, they moved to their farm in rural Fenton. Elgene passed away May 11, 2007.

Ray was a member of the Ringsted Presbyterian Church, VFW and American Legion. Ray enjoyed his daily drives, playing cards and telling jokes. Ray also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish Ray's memory is one son, Randy Fessler, of Ringsted; two daughters, Patricia Oleson and her husband, Dave, of Armstrong and Pam Hantelman and her husband, Bryon, of Ringsted; nine grandchildren, Abby, Heidi, Jodi, Jaimee, Tanner, Amy, Ryan, Cody and Travis; seven great-grandchildren, McKenzee, Gabriel, Shaylee, Jewell, Isaiah, Mylee and Kynlee; and three sisters, Janice Schaeffer of Minneapolis, twin-sister, Fay WoJahn of Emmetsburg and Jane Christensen and her husband, Lowell, of Ringsted.

Preceding Ray in death were his wife, parents and brother.
