ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Lyle Klinger, 97, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at United Methodist Church in Estherville with Pastor Lynn Elrod officiating. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery in Estherville.
He died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.
Lyle Klinger, the son of Lewis and Kathryn (Webb) Klinger, was born Dec. 11, 1914, in Harcourt.
Lyle graduated from Harcourt High School and then attended Iowa State University in Ames.
On June 2, 1940, he was united in marriage to Margaret Bergquist in Dayton, Iowa. The couple farmed near Boone for nine years, and later moved to the rural Estherville area where the family purchased a dairy farm and they farmed there for 20 years. In 1969, they moved into Estherville. Margaret died in 2003.
He was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville and the Eastern Star. Lyle enjoyed fishing, horses and quilting.
Left to cherish Lyle's memory are two daughters, Kay Koehler and her husband, Warren, of St. Peter, Minn. and Karen Butler and her husband, Jim, of Estherville; one son, Tom Klinger, of Estherville and special friend, Diane Redinius and two grandsons, Shawn and Jason Klinger.
Preceding Lyle in death were his parents, wife and one brother, Roscoe.
