It's January with near-record-high temperatures and there isn't a flake of snow on the ground.
Sound like a good time to start working out and shedding some of those holiday calories?
Well, you're just in luck. The Live Healthy Iowa 100 Day Wellness Challenge kicks off 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23 at the Regional Wellness Center. For just $15 (which includes a $5 discount coupon available at the Estherville Hy-Vee customer service desk), you get a T-shirt, registration and all the training materials you'll need to get a great start and make a great finish to the Challenge which concludes May 1.
People can either form teams of two to 10 people right away (see today's Daily News for details) or join a team on the kickoff date.
If you're still wondering why you should participate, here's some things to consider:
n It's cheap - $15. And that even includes a T-shirt, for crying out loud.
n It's good for you. Anyone who watches his or her diet and exercises for 100 days is going to be healthier.
n If you work out and watch what you eat for 100 days, you're a lot more likely to continue than if you just tried to do it on your own.
n You'll also get a lot of supporting materials that will help.
If you know someone who's forming a team, join.
Or else come to the kickoff Jan. 23 at the Regional Wellness Center.
