Talk about getting after it!
City of Estherville street crews did a great job of taking care of city streets after the six-inch snowfall Friday morning. It didn't take long at all for them to get ALL the streets in town plowed and the snow hauled away.
It's great to live in a town with small-town friendliness with big-city amenities.
Great job, guys!
Thanks Lyle and Harold
Estherville said farewell to two legends Friday - former mayor Lyle Hevern and councilman Harold Sawyer.
Both Hevern and Sawyer have dedicated several decades of their lives to serving the people of Estherville. Their pay did not even come close to the services they rendered the people and the city.
Friends gathered in the council chambers Friday afternoon to say farewell. While they'll miss serving the city, both seemed in fine spirits, and ready to move on to other ventures.
Thanks, guys. You're a class act.
First snow day welcome
We also have to recognize our local schools - Estherville Lincoln Central and Armstrong-Ringsted - for being cautious and calling off school Friday.
We've had a very mild winter, and it was a good call on the side of thinking of the safety of children.
With so much of the winter behind us, there simply can't be a need for that many storm days left.
Well . . . we're keeping out fingers crossed, anyway.
