ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Donald Buthmann, 89, of Estherville will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Estherville. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. He died on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.

Vistiation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Donald Lisbon Buthmann the son of William and Merle Vane (Sheley) Buthmann was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Paullina.

He received his education and graduated from Paullina High School.

On Feb. 13, 1944 he was united in marriage to Marian Lange in Paullina. The couple moved to Estherville in 1945. Donald worked at Pfaff Baking Company - Estherville Creamery then he was employed by the City of Estherville as an electrician. He also worked part-time at Gull Point State Park with the DNR. Donald enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and especially spending time with his family.

He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville where he served as Chairman of the congregation. He also was a member of Lutheran Layman's League, Aquiscilla Club and Senior Fellowship.

Left to cherish Donald's memory are his wife of 67 years, Marian of Estherville; his children, DeAnne Bueltel and her husband, Jim of Estherville; Larry Buthmann and his wife, Linda of Yuma, Ariz.; Cynthia Lange of Littleton, Colo.; four grandchildren, Jeff Bueltel and his wife, Sandi; Sheila Schichtl and her husband, Jeff; Stacie Bleeker and her husband, Darrell; Lonnie Buthmann; great grandchildren, Spenser, Morgan, Megan, Amanda, Alison, Nathan, Katie, Donnie, Brandon, Marissa, Brian, Aiden; one great-great grandchild, Jaxyn; brother, Jack Buthmann and his wife, Jan of Edgewater, Colo. and numerous nieces and nephews.

He has been preceded in death by his parents, sister, Eva Birks; brothers, Basil and Guy and grandson, Brian Buthmann.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials.
