FENTON - North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted wrapped up the regular season with a 45-33 win over Humboldt on Monday.
NSKAR finishes the season with a 17-4 record as the girls' team heads to Emmetsburg for the first round of Class 2A basketball this Saturday.
NSKAR jumped out to a good lead with a 10-0 advantage after one quarter and 18-1 at one point in the second quarter.
"But then we didn't score for five minutes," said NSKAR coach Merle Tigges. "We played hard though and had good defense."
Humboldt rallied during that 5-minute stretch and cut the deficit to 19-14 at half time.
However, NSKAR scored two points for every one by the Wildcats in the third quarter to take a 33-21 advantage.
Kelsey Gerhart led NSKAR with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Tori Johnson finished with 11 points while Colette Haag had nine, Harley Lindell had five, Dena Looft and Cheyanne Boland each had two and Madison Bollig and Jasmine Clausen each had one.
NSKAR did a good job of getting to the free-throw line, but made barely 50 percent, shooting 16-of-32.
Saturday's playoff game starts at 7 p.m. in Emmetsburg.
