After finally picking up a pair of conference wins on Friday, the Iowa Lakes baseball team didn't fare as well on Saturday against seventh-ranked North Iowa Area Community College.
On Friday, the Lakers got a couples breaks in a pair of close victories by scores of 2-0 and 5-4.
On Saturday, the Lakers were limited to five hits on the day and were shut out 5-0 and 9-0.
In Friday's first shutout, Gunner Johnson pitched all seven innings. He struck out five batters and gave up just three hits and a walk.
The Lakers had five hits. Anthony Stewart was 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Danny Cruz was 1-3 with 1n RBI, Alcides Fuguet was 1-3 and Jose Hernandez was 1-2.
In the second game, the two teams were tied at 4-4 when Leonardo Ramirez came up with the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh.
Christian Torrech earned the win on the mound.
At the plate, Anthony Stewart was 2-4 with a double and two runs. Ryan O'Melia was 2-3 with an RBI. Edwin Dominguez was 1-2 while Fuguet and Hernandez each were 1-3. Hernandez had an RBI.
On Saturday, the Lakers mustered two hits in the 5-0 loss. Bryan Lopez took the loss on the mound. Stewart and Esteban Peraza each had an hit.
The Lakers were out-hit 14-3 in game two. Ivan Lebron, Nate Krall and Kevin Silva each had a hit.
Iowa Lakes (12-14 overall, 2-10 in the conference) is on the road against Century College today.
