ESTHERVILLE?- Funeral services for Edna Weir, 83, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 23 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Thomas Marth officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Friday, April 20, 2012 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Sunday at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Edna Helen (Klingbeil) Weir, the daughter of John and Teresa (Backes) Klingbeil, was born April 28, 1928, in Fort Dodge.

As a child Edna moved with her parents to the Estherville area. She received her education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1946.

On Feb. 16, 1946, Edna was united in marriage to Bob Weir. The couple made their home north of Estherville where they raised their family and farmed. Edna was a homemaker and also assisted Bob in the operation of the family farm. In her younger years she had worked for a short time as a beautician.In her leisure time Edna enjoyed ceramics, fishing, camping with Bob, playing Yahtzee, knitting and baking. Edna especially enjoyed her little Poodle companion, Heidi. Another great pleasure in her life was visiting with her family and friends. Bob died Feb. 7, 1999.

Edna was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish Edna's memory are her children, Robert Lee Weir and his wife, Janene of Waxahachie, Texas; Peggy Turpin and her husband, Robert of Spirit Lake; grandchildren, Jennifer Beasley and her husband, David, Nicole Davis and her husband, Allen, Bobby Weir and his wife, Jennifer, Zachary Weir, Angela Turpin, Pam Heifner and her husband, Travis, Bobbie Turpin and four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Austin, Jaxon and Gage.

Preceding Edna in death were her husband; parents; two sisters, Olive Hillmer and May Scott and seven brothers, Fred, August, Jack, Gus, Frank, William and Henry.
