ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Robert Lee Levell, 84, of Dolliver will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Paul Wiegman officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at Palestine Lutheran Cemetery in Dolliver with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion 91 of Estherville.

He died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Robert Lee Levell, the son of Lumbert and Myrtle (Stade) Levell, was born Aug. 28, 1927, in rural Estherville.

Bob was baptized in Fairfax, Minn. on Nov. 7, 1929. He grew up in the Petersburg, Minn. area. He was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church on Oct. 3, 1943. He received his education in the Jackson, Minn., schools and Emmet Consolidated School. Bob served in the United States Army during Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from military service in March of 1948, he returned to the area to farm.

On Feb. 20, 1949, Robert was united in marriage to Nora A. Berge. The couple raised their family and farmed for many years in the Dolliver area. Nora passed away Nov. 6, 1985. On April 16, 1988, Bob was united in marriage to Ardyce Pell. The couple lived on the farm near Dolliver where Bob continued farming. Ardyce passed away Sept. 22, 2009. He was an avid outdoorsman his entire life, loving hunting, trapping and especially fishing, enjoying numerous hunting and fishing trips. Bob enjoyed playing cribbage with his special cribbage playing partner, Carl Ruschy. Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville. He was an active member of Palestine Lutheran Church near Dolliver until it closed. Bob served as Palestine Lutheran Church Council president for many years. He also was a lifetime member of Estherville VFW Post 3388. In the past Bob served as an ASCS board member for 30 years. He was a longtime 4-H Leader. Bob will be remembered as a very loving, kind and generous man.

Left to cherish Bob's memory are his children, Bob Levell Jr. (Marilyn) of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Judy Gosch (David) of Gruver, Peg Mason (Ron) of Estherville, Mary Sampson of Phoenix and Jodi Levell of Cave Creek, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Brooks (Nick), Brian Gosch, Andy Gosch (Jessica), Katie Gosch, Jon Jackson (Emily), Amanda Jackson, Jacob Sampson, Adam Sampson, Derek Sampson and Madeline Levell; seven great-grandchildren; special friend, Jeanine Rasmussen; sisters, Darlene Stender (Carlyle) and Nancy Hanson; special friends, Bev and Jim Fisher and family; step-children, Ann Stephenson, David Pell (Mindy), Brian Pell, Kenny Pell (Marie) and Joe Pell (Gloria); 10 step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Avis Schnichels (Matt) and aunts, Caroline Stade and Vernie Stade.

Preceding Bob in death were both wives; sister, Bonnie Brown; brothers-in-law, Harold Hanson, Jack Brown and Nels Berge and step-son-in-law, Russ Stephenson.
