Rodeo youth compete in Estherville

The Estherville Saddle Club is hosting an Iowa Junior High and High School Rodeo that will be at the Emmet County Fairgrounds in Esthervile Saturday, May 5 starting with cutting at 8 a.m. and Sunday, May 6 starting with barrels at 7:30. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under, and anyone pre school is free. There will be a concession stand. Events include bull riding, saddle broncs, pole bending, steer wrestling, barebacks, and much more.

Zach Oestmann is a 14-year-old boy from Auburn, Neb. He has been participating in rodeos since he was three with his entire family along with two cousins that will also be participating in the Estherville Rodeo this weekend.

This is the second time he has been to this particular rodeo and will be participating in ribbon roping, breakaway roping, goat tieing, and chute dogging.

"My favorite part about the rodeo is just having a good time, spending time with friends... and winning money," said Oestmann.
