SPENCER - A school record in the shuttle hurdle relay highlighted the Estherville Lincoln Central Boys Track Team performance at Spencer on Monday.
The quartet of Justin Heinrichs, Michael McCauley, Alec Wycoff finished the event in 1 minute, 3.76 seconds. That placed them third overall.
The meet also featured the first varsity victory for Joe Heinrichs as he won the 3200-meter run in 10 minutes, 53 seconds.
ELC had two other top finishes as Gable Bonner won the shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 1 inch while Alex Blomquist won the 400-meter dash in 52.76 seconds.
Spencer won its own meet with 123 points followed by LeMars with 113, Western Christian with 89, Emmetsburg with 76, ELC with 75, Cherokee with 48 and Storm Lake with 27.
ELC's 4x800-meter relay finished third in 9:20. That foursome included Rodrick Fuller, Blake Gjerde, Zain Dostal and Tyler Swanson.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Spenser Diekmann took third in 1:02 and Ivan Esteves placed fifth in 1:03.3.
In the 800-meter run, Blomquist placed third in 2:16 while Gjerde placed fifth in 2:18.
Dostal finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 3 1/2 inches. Fuller took fourth in the 1600-meter run in 4:56.7
The 4x100-meter relay team of Esteves, Bryce Hansen, Dostal and Angel Diaz placed fifth in 49.47 seconds.
Zach Humble placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Jay Zheng, Hansen, Dostal and McCauley placed sixth in 1:43.7.
ELC travels to Sioux Center on Thursday for the Class 2A District Meet.
