This week is National Flag Week, which includes the upcoming National Flag Day on Thursday, June 14.
The day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777.
President Woodrow Wilson officially proclaimed June 14 as Flag Day in 1916 and Congress established National Flag Day in 1949.
While not an official federal holiday, flags will be displayed on all federal buildings during the week and Americans are urged to display the Stars and Stripes at home and other suitable places.
We encourage all to proudly display the colors this week.
