ELC wins three at Spirit Lake

SPIRIT LAKE - Class 3A No. 8 Estherville Lincoln Central earned three victories this weekend, two over ranked opponents, at the Spirit Lake Tournament on Saturday.

The Midgets opened the day against George-Little Rock.

ELC built a 7-1 lead and the Mustangs rallied to cut the deficit to one. With two outs left in the fifth inning, ELC inserted Kendall Bosch in relief of Ashton Reisner. Bosch struck out the next two batters and two of three in the sixth before the game was called on the time limit.

Reisner earned the win. She pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six runs (five earned) on seven hits with one walk. Bosch struck out four of the five batters she faced.

At the plate, Sarah Schacherer was 2-3 with three RBIs. Kellie Christensen was 2-3 and Bosch was 2-4. Macy Dahl and Christina Tendal each went 1-2.

ELC defeated St. Mary's 5-3.

Dahl scored the first run as she hit a one-out single, went to second on a passed ball, stole third base and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Emily Kirchner.

In the second inning, Tendal led off with a double and eventually went to third base on a passed ball. A two-out double by Caitlyn Clayton gave ELC a 2-0 lead.

St. Mary's rallied with three runs in the bottom of the third n two singles, a double and an ELC error.

ELC tied the game in the sixth. Kirchner reached on an error, stole second base and eventually scored on a single by Bosch.

In the seventh inning, Christensen hit a double and scored the go-ahead run on a triple by Kristen King. King scored when Dahl grounded out to the shortstop.

ELC wrapped up the day with a 4-0 win over Central Springs.

The Midgets started with a three-run first inning. Dahl, Kirchner and Bosch all hit one-out singles with Dahl scoring on Bosch's hit. Tendal then hit a hard grounder between the second baseman's legs to score two more runs.

In the fourth inning, Megan Jensen hit a one-out double and Christensen singled to bring Jensen home.

Kirchner was 3-4 while Dahl was 2-4. Bosch and Clayton each went 1-2 while Jensen and Christensen each were 1-3.

Bosch earned the victory as she struck out five batters while giving up three hits and one walk.
