GT/RA struggles through Spirit Lake Tourney

But Knights picked up key win on Friday

WEST BEND, SPIRIT LAKE - After taking a game from West Bend-Mallard Friday for its third straight win, the Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Softball Team lost three games at the Spirit Lake Tournament on Saturday.

GT/RA rallied from a 3-0 deficit, scoring five runs over the fourth and fifth innings.

Alyssa Hoffman earned the victory as she gave up four runs (none earned) on two hits with one strikeout and two walks.

GT/Ra finished with nine hits. Hoffman, Hailley Nelson and Maddy Schany each went 2-4. Daisy Jordan and Nikki Brown each went 1-4 while Morgan Matthews was 1-2.

GT/Ra started the Spirit Lake Tournament with a 10-0, five-inning loss to Western Christian.

Hoffman took the loss giving up 10 runs (two earned) on eight hits with one strikeout and six walks.

GT/RA had four hits. Jordan was 2-3 with a double and two stolen bases. Brown and Marly Bakken each went 1-2.

GT/RA then lost 16-10 to Kingsley-Pierson. Kingsley-Pierson scored 10 runs in the third inning. Grace Skattebo took the loss on the mound as she gave up 16 runs (six earned) on 13 hits with seven walks and no strikeouts.

GT/RA hit the ball well also with 14 hits. Morgan MacGrauth was 3-4 with two doubles. Skattebo was 3-5 while Brown was 2-5 and Schany was 2-4.

Nelson, Jordan, Matthews and Cassy Hampson each had a hit. Matthews' hit was s triple.

In a rematch with Okoboji, the Pioneers came out on top this time 5-3. Okoboji scored its five runs in the first two innings to take a 5-1 lead.

Hoffman took the loss. She gave up five runs (one earned) on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

At the plate, Matthews was 2-3. Schany was 1-3 with a double and Bakken and Jordan also were 1-3. Hoffman, Nelson and MacGrauth each went 1-4.

GT/RA hosted Corwith-Wesley-Luverne in a doubleheader in Ruthven on Monday.

The Knights are home in Terril with Emmetsburg on Tuesday.
