Midgets blank Braves

Bosch throws two-hit shutout

After a full weekend off, the Estherville Lincoln Central Team didn't look too rusty.

The Midgets went right to work against Cherokee and won 12-0 in four innings on Monday.

Kendall Bosch faced just 13 batters while giving up two hits and striking out five in the four innings.

Cherokee's Danni Roethler led of with a single into left field, but rounded first big and didn't get back soon enough as shortstop Emily Kirchner made a quick throw to Taylor Lago, who made the tag.

ELC required the next 10 batters with Bosch striking out the bottom of the order in the third inning. A two-out single by Emily Haselhoff was the only other hit by the Braves.

Meanwhile, ELC's offense went to work in the first inning. Kristen King led off with a single and Kirchner drew a one-out walk. Both runs scored on a triple by Kendall Bosch. Bosch scored on a passed ball as ELC took a 3-0 lead.

In the second inning, Sadie Winter led off with a single and Caitlyn Clayton reached on an error. A single by Kellie Christensen scored one run and King doubled to bring in two more runs.

King stole third base and Macy Dahl drew a walk. Dahl didn't stop and King burst for home. She reached safely and Dahl continued to third on the play and scored on a passed ball.

Bosch singled and courtesy runner Rachel Bates went to second on a passed ball and to third when Christina Tendal grounded out. A single by Lago made the score 9-0.

After a scoreless third inning, ELC went back to work in the fourth. Bosch and Tendal hit consecutive singles. Bates, running for Bosch again, stole third base and, as the fielder was unable to get the clean tag. Carson Gjerde, running for Tendal took second on the play.

A sacrifice fly by Lago brought in one run and a double by Clayton brought in another. With an 11-0 lead, Christensen, King and Dahl drew walks to end the game on the 12-run rule.

Bosch was 3-3 with two RBIs. King was 2-3 with two RBIs. Clayton was 2-3 with an RBI. Lago was 1-3 with two RBIs. Tendal, Winter and Christensen each were 1-3. Christensen and Dahl each had an RBI.

ELC (15-4 overall) travels to LeMars for a make-up game this evening.
