Estherville Daily News

GRAETTINGER-LuVerne Carl Petersen was born Aug. 12, 1925, on the family farm in Palo Alto County. He attended Blue Bottom Country School. Following his education, Vernie worked on the family farm and help to raise his younger siblings.

On Dec. 4, 1945, LuVerne was united in marriage to Velma Elnora Powers. The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Graettinger where they raised their children.

Vernie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Graettinger. He enjoyed fishing at his cabin in Leech Lake, Minn., gardening, playing cards, and keeping up on current events over coffee at Studer's and the Elevator. Farming was his pride and joy, but above all things, Verne cherished the time he spent with his family.
