GT/RA rallies to beat Chargers

LAURENS?- The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Softball Team rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to defeat Laurens-Marathon 4-3 on Tuesday.

Junior Alyssa Hoffman earned the win on the mound. In seven innings, she gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and four walks.

GT/RA finished with seven hits on the night.

Lauren Flaharty was 3-3 with a stolen base.

Morgan MacGrauth was 2-3. Brooke Hoffman was 1-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Nikki Brown was 1-4.

GT/RA (10-15 overall) is at the Okoboji Tournament today.

Indians declaw Tigers, 12-3

SPENCER - Spirit Lake broke open a 4-2 game with a six-run fourth inning. After that, the Indians cruised to a 12-3 victory over Spencer on Tuesday.

Paige Krause finished 4-4 with a home run, her seventh of season and second in as many games. The junior drove in three runs and scored four times.

Emily Mercer had two extra base hits and four RBIs. Cara Vale went five innings in the circle, scattering three hits, two earned runs and four strikeouts.

Spirit Lake (14-12 overall, 4-6 in the conference) had its game with Cherokee postponed on Wednesday. The Indians host Algona today.

Spirit Lake wins eighth straight

SIBLEY?- The Spirit Lake Baseball Team won its eighth game in a row with an 8-3 win over Sibley-Ocheyedan on Tuesday.

Ben Speath pitched five innings and gave up just one hit. Zach Herrig closed out the game giving up three runs on three hits.

The Indians started the evening with a solo home run by Casey Jones in the second inning. They then scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to build an 8-0 lead.

Spirit Lake (13-5 overall) was at Cherokee on Wednesday. The Indians host Spencer on Friday.

ELC?JV?falls to Wolfpack

HULL - The Estherville Lincoln Central Junior Varsity Softball Team lost 10-3 to Western Christian on Wednesday.

Liz Brashear took the loss on the mound. She pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up 10 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits with five strikeouts and five walks. Megan Jensen pitched two-thirds of an inning and had one strikeout.

ELC had four hits. Caitlyn Clayton was 2-3 with a run and an RBI. Rachel Bates was 1-2 with a triple and an RBI. Jordan Phillips was 1-3 with a double and a run.
