ELC?JV?rallies to beat Tigers

SPENCER - The Estherville Lincoln Central Junior Varsity Softball Team rallied from a first-inning 5-0 deficit to Spencer and left town with a 7-5 victory on Monday.

ELC chipped at the lead with a couple runs each in the second and third innings before scoring three in the fifth.

Liz Brashear pitched all five innings and gave up five runs (two earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

At the plate, Sarah Schacherer was 1-2 with two RBIs. Caitlyn Clayton was 1-3 with a double and two runs. Carson Gjerde was 1-3 with three RBIs.

ELC (12-2 overall) is at Spirit Lake on Wednesday.

ELC?JV, Egeland shut out Spencer

SPENCER - The Estherville Lincoln Central Junior Varsity Baseball Team avenged a loss to Spencer with a 7-0 victory on Monday. The Tigers had won the first meeting 15-0.

This time, Austin Egeland was on the mound. He allowed just three hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Egeland helped his own cause by going 2-3 and scoring a run.

Also Justin Frederick was 2-3 and Bryce Hansen was 2-4 with a double. Corey Reeves was 1-1 and scored twice. Zach Humble was 1-2 and scored a run. Chase Bonner was 1-3.

ELC freshmen split with North Union

The Estherville Lincoln Central Freshman Baseball Team split its games with North Union on Monday.

The Midgets won game one 9-7.

Carsten Bosch was the winning pitcher. He pitched five innings, faced 19 batters and gave up seven runs (four earned) on two hits with four strikeouts, nine walks and one hit batter.

At the plate, Hayden Dowding was 2-3 with two RBIs. Danny Christensen was 1-2 with three RBIs and a run. Hunter King was 1-3 with a run and an RBI. Bosch was 1-1 with two runs. Zach Humble and Michael McCauley each went 1-2 with a run. Bryce Mann scored twice.

ELC lost game two 13-4.

Christensen took the loss. He pitched 2 2/3 innings, faced 26 batters and gave up 10 runs (four earned) on four hits with five strikeouts, 11 walks and two hit batters.

Jack Brashear closed out the game. He faced five batters and gave up two runs on one hit with one strikeout and three walks.

Christensen was 2-2 with two RBIs. Justin Heinrichs was 1-1 with two runs and an RBI. Sergio Orsornio was 1-2 and Dalton Christoffer was 1-3. Josh Olson scored a run.

ELC (15-4) plays Storm Lake today.

ELC freshmen softball wins pair of eight-inning games

The Estherville Lincoln Central Freshman Softball Team split a pair of eight-inning games over the past few days.

On Friday, ELC lost 10-9 to Algona.

Megan Jensen pitched five innings and gave up eight runs (five earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and seven walks. Carson Gjerde pitched two innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on one hit with one strikeout and one walk.

Jensen was 2-3 at the plate, Gjerde, Bailey Fredericksen, Jordan Phillips, Alyssa Friesner, Sadie Rosenboom and Joslyn Moore each had a hit.

ELC defeated North Iowa 10-7 on Monday.

Jensen pitched five innings and gave up five earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Gjerde pitched three innings and gave up three runs (one earned) on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

At the plate, Friesner was 2-3 and Jensen was 2-4. Caitlyn Clayton, Fredericksen, Rosenboom, Moore and Colleen Humble each had one hit.
