We've said it before, and we'll say it again.
It's amazing what can happen when a group of dedicated people set their minds on a goal.
The latest example in Estherville would be and new pavillion at Thoreson Field Three. The pavillion is a highlight for both home and visiting teams and it's yet one more example of the pride Estherville takes care in itself.
The Little League Association parents deserve a lot of credit for getting out and generating the community support for the pavillion. A lot of support also came from area businesses to help pay for the building. They're why we have such a great new facility. Thanks also have to go to all the donors and volunteers who helped make it all possible.
When you really think about it, for a town our size, Estherville has a lot of recreational facilities. There's the ballparks, of course, but there's also two pools - one indoor and one outdoor, great city parks and the Regional Wellness Center.
In the future, we can look for recreational trails throughout Estherville and a performing arts center - both projects that have widespread community support. These will be the types of facilities that will attract more people to Estherville, that will give our youth and Iowa Lakes Community College students more recreational opportunities and that will enhance the overall community environment for both residents and visitors alike.
And on top of all this, just look at the improvements we've made to our schools over just the past few years.
Anyone who hasn't been to Estherville lately just plain hasn't seen Estherville. It's changed that much.
So this summer, when your relatives and friend come for the Fourth of July or Sweet Corn Days, give them a tour of the new Estherville.
And then watch the look of surprise on their faces.
