BANCROFT - North Union stayed atop the Cornbelt Conference standings with a sweep over Harris-Lake Park on Monday.
The Warriors took the first game 8-3 and the second 9-4.
Brett Thackery earned the win in game one. He pitched all seven innings and gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits with nine strikeouts and one walk.
North Union pounded out 11 hits.
Sawyer Doocy was 4-4 with four doubles and four RBIs. Thackery was 2-4 while Brandon Kolash was 2-3.
North Union starter Garrett Johnson got the win in game two. He pitched five innings and gave up three runs (one earned) on two hits with six strikeouts and three walks.
Zack Hurlburt earned the save. He pitched two innings and gave up one earned run on three hits with one strikeout and no walks.
North Union trailed 4-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning and plated three runs in that inning and the sixth to pull out the win.
The Warriors took advantage of two walks and a hit batter to load the bases.
But with two outs, Brett Deitering drew another walk to bring in one run and a single by Evan Hagebock drove in two runs.
North Union had nine hits. Deitering was 2-2 with three RBIs. Hagebock was 1-3 with three RBIs. Jake Adams was 2-3 with an RBI and Brett Thackery was 2-4.
