SPIRIT LAKE - Estherville Lincoln Central thanked Spirit Lake for helping the Midgets in the Lakes Conference race by pounding the Indians 15-3 on Wednesday.

Earlier in the week, Spirit Lake handed LeMars its third conference loss.

With conference games against Emmetsburg and LeMars remaining, the Midgets can secure the league title by winning one of those games.

ELC is now 11-1 in league play.

The Midgets started slowly against the Indians.

After scoring a run in the first inning, ELC led 2-0 after a solo home run over the left field fence by Emily Kirchner in the third inning.

The Indians got one run back in the bottom of the inning, but the Midgets erupted for five runs each in the fifth and sixth inning and closed out the game with a three-run seventh inning.

ELC's defense did most of the work as Kendall Bosch struck out three while allowing just four hits and giving up one walk.

ELC finished the night with 15 hits.

Bosch led the way, going 4-5 with two RBIs.

Kirchner was 3-4 with two RBIS as was Caitlyn Clayton.

Christina Tendal was 2-5 with three RBIs while Taylor Lago was 2-4 and Macy Dahl was 1-4.

For Spirit Lake, Alissa Christoffer was 2-4 while Paige Krause was 1-3 with an RBI and Kayla Herrig was 1-3.

ELC (24-4 overall) travels to Emmetsburg this evening and will try to avenge the Midgets' lone conference loss. ELC hosts LeMars on Saturday afternoon.

Spirit Lake (17-18 overall, 6-7 in the Lakes Conference) hosts Clay Central-Everly this evening.
