EMMETSBURG - Emmetsburg's Faith Schmidt threw a no-hitter against Class 3A No. 6 Estherville Lincoln Central as the E'Hawks defeated the Midgets for the second time this season.
In a classic pitchers' duel on Thursday, Emmetsburg came up with two key hits in the seventh inning to record the 1-0 victory.
ELC ace Kendall Bosch limited the E'Hawks to just four hits with 10 strikeouts and a pair of walks.

Schmidt struck out seven ELC batters.
The Midgets had just three base runners the entire night.
Kristen King reached on an error in the first inning, went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Macy Dahl and to third when Emily Kirchner grounded out to first base. But she was stranded at third when Bosch popped out.
In the fourth inning, Bosch reached base on a two-out error, but Christina Tendal popped out.
In the sixth inning, Dahl reached base on a two-out error, but Kirchner grounded back to Schmidt.
"We just couldn't make solid contact with the ball," said ELC coach Megan Anderson. "We didn't hit anything into the outfield."
The loss takes ELC (24-5 overall) to 11-2 in the Lakes Conference. The Midgets can still secure a conference title with a win against LeMars Saturday afternoon. Both the Bulldogs and the E'Hawks have three conference losses.
The junior varsity game starts at 1 p.m. Saturday with the varsity to follow.
