EMMETSBURG - Estherville Lincoln Central just couldn't get the bats going against Emmetsburg on Friday as the E'Hawks defeated the Midgets 10-0 in six innings.
E'Hawk starter Jake Carlson let ELC scatter five hits over the six innings.
The Midgets only had a baserunner on third twice.

In the second inning, Joe Clayton hit a leadoff single, stole second with two outs and went to third on an error, but was left stranded.
In the sixth inning, Clayton drew a one-out walk and Derek Nieland and Adam Reiter hit consecutive two-out singles, but the E'Hawks got out of the inning as Justin Frederick grounded out.
Meanwhile, the E'Hawks were sending the ball over the fence.
Emmetsburg scored its first run with a one-out single followed by an ELC error.
A two-out, two-run home run over the left field fence by Jake Jackson gave the hosts a 3-0 lead.
The E'Hawks led 4-0 when clean-up batter Ryan Kliegl got hold of a pitch and sent into over the right field fence for a 6-0 E'Hawk lead.
Emmetsburg added two runs in the fifth and Luke Jackson ended the game with a walk-off RBI single in the sixth.
For ELC, Clayton, Nieland and Frederick each went 1-2 while Gable Bonner and Adam Reiter each went 1-3.
Billy Snyder took the loss for ELC. He struck out two batters and walked three. Adam Reiter pitched two innings and struck out two and walked one.
The E'Hawks had 12 hits on the night.
Both teams left eight runners on base.
ELC (11-16 overall, 4-8 in the Lakes Conference) travels to LeMars for a varsity doubleheader to wrap up the regular season.
The Midgets return to Emmetsburg a week from today, Saturday, July 7, to face the E'Hawks in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs. The winner will face North Union at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 10 back in Emmetsburg.
