It was a beautiful night, and maybe that was why there was such a great turnout at the monthly Business After Five Tuesday night at Citizens Credit Union, co-sponsored by the Estherville Public Library.
It was a great time for folks to gather and chat and share some phenomenal nachos, fruit and bars. And it was also a good time for Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce members to look at what's been happening and what's to come.
Stephanie Neppl, chamber executive director, reported that 1,200 attended the Fourth of July flight breakfast - and that's fantastic. And if it presages the attendance at this year's Sweet Corn Days, that should be phenomenal as well.
As Neppl said, though, it takes volunteers. Many, many volunteers. Volunteers to shuck sweet corn, help with the duck race, help set up picnic tables and barricades or help with any of the other activities. Because without volunteers, things just won't happen.
So if you'd like to volunteer, call the chamber at 362-3541 and ask how you can help. There will definitely be a place for you. You'll have a great time, being in the middle of the action, and you'll get a great sense of satisfaction at helping make a great celebration even better.
Estherville is making a name for itself regionally with Sweet Corn Days. With your help, it can only get better.
