Estherville Daily News

Registrations are now being accepted for those wanting to enter a float in the 15th Estherville Sweet Corn Days parade to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4.

Any type of parade entry is welcome: floats, cars, trucks, farm equipment, musical groups, animals or clowns representing any private or public community group, business or organization.

Qualified entries can enter the judged portion of the parade. To be eligible, entries must be a float, have the theme "Elements of a Good Life," and the entry must be on a hayrack or trailer. There will be two categories for judging: commercial (businesses) and non-commercial (organizations). The winner in each category will receive $100 in Estherville Bucks and their name will be included on a traveling trophy.

Lineup for parade entrants will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 4 at South 18th St.

All participants in the parade must keep pace with the Honor Guard or the entry will need to be towed or on a trailer. In addition, no candy or other items can be thrown from a moving parade entry. It's recommended that anyone who wants to hand out items gets someone to walk along and hand out items to those standing alongside the road.
