When's the last time you took the whole family out to an event - that the whole family could enjoy?
Well, the Emmet County Fair Thursday through Sunday, July 26-29, is just one such event - where you and your entire family can enjoy themselves with four, full days of wholesome family entertainment, all right here in Emmet County. And admission is free.
For kids, there's the coloring contest with entries arriving 8 a.m. Thursday and Friday in the fair office in the Tuttle Lake Building.
Carolan Rides will be open noon to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. And then there's the kids pedal tractor pull at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Adults, of course, will find lots to do as well like the tractor pull 6:30 p.m. Saturday and the free stage hypnosis show 6 p.m. Saturday followed by C. Willi Myles, free comedian, at 7 p.m.
Teens, and everyone else, will enjoy the fashion show and fair queen contest 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Ingham Lake Building. And then there's the Bill Riley Talent Show 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Ingham Lake Building followed by the free movie at the Eagle Lake Building at 9 p.m. And then of course there's the teen dance and hypnosis show 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday in the Ingham Lake Building.
And of course there's the events all four days that are traditional for every fair - everything ranging from livestock shows to static exhibits to free caricature drawings - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Estherville Building.
Farm Bureau members will be treated to a picnic 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday. The cattleman's supper will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday and the free fair supper, sponsored by AgriGold and Farm Bureau, will be held 5-7 p.m. Saturday. From 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday a county fair supper will be held at the Eagle Lake Building, with a pulled pork sandwich, chips, baked beans, dessert and beverage for just $5.
