Emmet County Fair July 26-29

There's plenty in store for everyone at the Emmet County Fair Thursday through Sunday, July 26-29, at the Emmet County Fairgrounds in Estherville.

Thursday's events start with 4-H static exhibits at the Estherville/Ingham Lake Building. The ECHS antique tractor and farm equipment will also arrive at the Swan Lake Building at 8 a.m.

The horse show will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the arena with sheep and meat goat show with showmanship at 4 p.m. in the Iowa Showbarn.

The Emmet County Farm Bureau picnic for members only will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Eagle Lake Building followed by the fashion show and fair queen contest at 7:30 p.m. in the Ingham Lake Building.

Friday events kick off with the swine show at 7 a.m. in the Iowa Showbarn. The poultry show will be at 11 in the Twelve Mile Lake Building.

Commercial buildings will be open from noon to 9 p.m. with Carolan Rides open from noon to 9 p.m. wristbands are $10 a day or $15 for two days.

The rabbit show will follow at 2 p.m. in the Twelve Mile Lake Building with beef showmanship at 5 p.m. in the Iowa Showbarn. A drawing will be held for coloring contest winners at 5 p.m. in the fair office in the Tuttle Lake Building. The Emmet County Cattlemen will serve supper from 5-7 p.m. in the Eagle Lake Building.

A new event this year, Supreme Showmanship for seniors only, will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Iowa Showbarn.

Bound to be a big favorite again this year is the tractor pull at 6:30 p.m. east of the arena. The Bill Riley Talent Show will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Ingham Lake Building and a free movie will be held at 9 p.m. at the Eagle Lake Building.

Saturday's events kick off with beef showmanship at 7 a.m. in the grassy area. Following at 9 will be the Northwest Iowa Horse Show in the Arena.

Carolan Rides will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and free caricature drawings will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Estherville Building.

The open class pet show will be held at noon in the Tuttle Lake Building with the 4-H pet show to follow. Commercial buildings will be open from noon to 7 p.m. in the Ellsworth Building.

Registration will open for the kids pedal tractor pull at 2 p.m. north of the Swan Lake/Ellsworth buildings. Strolling Magic will be at 2:30 throughout the fairgrounds with the kids pedal tractor pull at 3 p.m.

The dog show will be at 3 with the free fair supper from 5-7 p.m. at the Eagle Lake Building, sponsored by AgriGold and Farm Bureau.

A free stage hypnosis show with Brian Imbus will be held at the Eagle Lake Building at 6 p.m. Pony rides will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Cheever Lake Building.

Comedian C. Willi Myles will perform free at the Eagle Lake Building, along with free pop and popcorn, all courtesy of Farm Bureau. The teen dance and hypnosis show will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Ingham Lake Building. Admission is $5.

A 10 a.m. church service at Palestine Lutheran Church on the Emmet County Museum grounds just east of the fairgrounds will open up Sunday activities.

The 4-H and open class bucket bottle calf and lamb show will be held at noon at the Iowa Showbarn. Cowchip bingo, sponsored by the 4-H County Council, will follow at 2 p.m. in the grassy area.

The fair parade of champions and awards program will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Iowa Showbarn. The county fair supper will be held from 4:15 to 5:30 at the Eagle Lake Building. A pulled pork sandwich, chips, baked beans, dessert and beverage will be available for $5.

The 4-H/FFA market livestock premium auction will conclude the fair at 5:15 p.m. in the Iowa Showbarn.
