The Emmet County Board of Supervisors Tuesday heard a proposal on the employee handbook and for negotiating services
Jack Reed of Iowa Negotiation Service, LLC, presented his evaluation of the county employee handbook, noting a couple possible additions, including a disclaimer and a cell phone policy.
Reed said his company also offers a full range of services, including contract negotiations with the union, human resources consulting, monitoring employment law changes, processing grievances, helping with complaint resolution, arbitration and updating the employee handbook.
Reed quoted a two-tier fee system: $3,500 for the year of contract negotiations and $1,200 for other years.
"We're all about creating or enhancing good employer-employee relations," Reed said. "Our goal is to never have the county go to arbitration."
The board said it would like more time to consider Reed's proposal.
