An Estherville man has been arrested on a sexual assault charge.
On Tuesday, Estherville police report they received a complaint from the mother of a 9-year-old that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by a household member.
Officers concluded the investigation of the reported assault with the arrest of 29-year-old Marvin Noel Torres-Zavala of Estherville for second-degree sexual abuse. Torres-Zavala was placed in the Emmet County Jail on the charges.
Second-degree sexual abuse is a Class B Felony punishable by no more than 25 years in prison. Torres-Zavala made an initial appearance before a magistrate and remains in the Emmet County Jail with a bond of $32,500 cash. Torres-Zavala is also being held on a detainer issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
All suspects are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court proceeding.
