Fair concludes with awards and auction

Several more champs crowned over weekend

The Emmet County Fair culminated in annual awards and prizes Sunday afternoon with trophies galore presented at the annual 4-H Awards ceremony.

Those who earned the top prizes also did well in the premium livestock auction. The 4-H youth whose animals earned grand champion or reserve grand champion honors brought the best bids at the auction.

Evan Hansen, who won grand champion swine, grand champion pen of three swine and grand champion barrow, got top dollar for his hogs as each sold for $625 while his champion gilt brought $550.

Clint McConnell of Armstrong received 1,000 for his grand champion and Emmet County-produced champion beef.

Payton Farnum showed the grand champion lamb and pen of 3, which went for $1,000.

Alex Brandt's grand champion goat earned 4300 while Alissa Olson's grand champion poultry went for $250.

Sunday's final grand and reserve champions were presented during the open bucket/bottle lamb and calf show and the 4-H bucket/bottle calf show.

Winning the top open lamb prize was Vanessa Von Bank while Isabelle Ulrich showed the reserve champion lamb.

In the open bucket/bottle calf show, Maggie White earned grand champion honors while Lynzie Burton received the reserve champion ribbon.

In the 4-H bucket/bottle calf show, Brandy Kinnander was the grand champion while Jason Enerson earned reserve grand champion honors.

While a few individuals dominated the top sheep and swine awards, the beef awards were spread out.

However brothers from Armstrong, Clint McConnell and Colton McConnell, earned the grand champion market beef and reserve grand champion market beef honors.

Morgan White finished with the grand champion breeding heifer while Ryan McMurtry had the reserve champion.

Landra McClellan claimed the cow/calf grand champion award while Emmy Schroeder was runner-up.

Bryce Anderson had the grand champion pen of 3 and first-timer Logan White had the reserve grand champion pen.

In the dog show, Joseph Enerson had the grand champion and best-of-show dog while Gretchen Probst reserved the reserve grand champion dog.
