On Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, Estherville Police and the Department of Human Services encountered a second victim alleging sexual assault by John Hanson. During a follow up interview from the initial investigation, an adult female reported that she was sexually assaulted from 2008 to 2011.
The victim reported that at the conclusion of the assaults, Hanson allegedly told her that if she reported the assaults, he would take steps to alter her immigration status.
At the conclusion of the interview, John Marvin Hanson, 56, of Estherville was charged with four additional counts of sexual assault. The level of sexual assault in these cases is third degree.
Sexual assault third degree is a Class C Felony that is punishable by confinement of not more than 10 years in prison. Hanson remains in the Emmet County Jail on a $84,500 bond.
All suspects are presumed innocent until they are found guilty in a court of law.
