ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Clarence Enderson, 94, of Estherville will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at First Christian Church in Estherville with Pastor Doug Burton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church only on Saturday. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery in Estherville.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.
He was the son of Olif and Mary (Smith) Enderson and was born on Oct. 3, 1917, in Forest City. Clarence's father passed away when he was a young boy and his mother later married Art Johnson.
Clarence received his education in the Armstrong schools. On Jan. 5, 1937, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Sadie Burt in Armstrong. The couple lived and worked on a farm until moving to Estherville in 1945. Clarence worked for the Morrell's packing plant from 1946 until he retired in 1979. Clarence was a member of the Christian Church, Lions Club, American Federation of Labor Union (AFL) and Congressional Industrial Organization (CIO). Clarence enjoyed bowling, woodworking, playing cards, camping, fishing and gardening. Clarence was known for his kindness, determination and quick wit. He learned how to use a computer when he was 84 and enjoyed emailing, surfing the Web, and was even on Facebook.
Grateful for having shared Clarence's life are his family: daughter Carol Krueger Weber of Kanorado, Kan.; son Robert Enderson and his wife, Juanita, of Beaufort, N.C.; daughter-inlaw, Ardyce (Lauritsen) of Dallas Center; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild, including Neil and his wife Stephanie and their children Alex, Alyssa, and Callista of Blue Springs, Mo., Paul and his wife, Deanna, and their children, Moriah, Andrew, Phillip, Rachel and Dana of Redfield, Iowa, Glen of Dallas Center, and Chris Enderson and his children Ashley (and son Jacob), Kaylyn, Tim, Kristen and Jared. Adam Krueger and his wife, Leah, and their children, Alec, Kaidyn and Adisyn of Mason City, Anne (Krueger) Vedder and her husband, Jack, and their children, Reese and Vanessa of Estherville, and Karin (Enderson) Leith and her husband, Brian, of Fenton, Mo. He is also survived by daughter-in-law, Deb Enderson, of Hillsboro, Mo., sister, Margaret Manley, from Armstrong; sister-in-law, Gladys Enderson of Estherville, sister-in-law, Jeanne Johnson, of Graettinger, and many nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; son, Raymond; parents; step-father; four brothers, Orville, George, Dewey Enderson and Arthur Johnson; two sisters, Myrtle Payne and Anna Fox; daughter-in-law, Roberta Enderson and sons-in-law, Deloy Krueger and John Weber.
