On Friday, Aug 10 at 5:30 p.m. our 2002 Chevy Tracker broke down nine miles south of Estherville on HWY 4. We had just completed an eight day camping trip at Okoboji. My husband was driving ahead of me pulling our camper trailer. I was pulling two jet skiis.
What began as an unfortunate end to our summer vacation turned into an opportunity to come into contact with several special Estherville citizens. The man whose driveway I broke down on was very helpful, making phone calls to see if any place was still open. Later that evening, he followed us the nine miles back to Estherville at 20 mph with his flashers on while we towed the vehicle into town. The SleepInn was very helpful and considerate of our car trouble/situation. Then there was Tracy, who came to work at 7 a.m. and began working on our vehicle, even though the shop did not open until 8 a.m. He was very thorough in trying to discern what/where was the electrical short in our car.
The car was fixed and we were on our was South of Estherville by 10:30 without experiencing anymore difficulty during the three hour drive home.
We came home later than originally expected from our vacation, but very thankful for the people that we met in the Estherville area. Thank you for going our of your way to reach out to strangers and we appreciate all of your help!
