A young Iowa Lakes team played its first home match against Indian Hills on Tuesday.

The squad features just one sophomore from last year's fifth-place National Team in Christy Wicks of Spencer.

Indian Hills left town with a 25-18, 25-19, 25-12 win over the Lakers.

"Our team is athletic, they work hard and they're tall," said Iowa Lakes coach Scott Tschetter. "But their inexperience is prevalent."

The coach said his young squad did hang with some tough teams at the Iowa Western Tournament this past weekend.

On Tuesday, Wicks led the Lakers with nine kills and three blocks. Brianna Ludwig had two blocks.

Mariah Christian had three ace serves.

Lexi Schneekloth had 19 set assists.

Iowa Lakes (1-6 overall) hosts Iowa Western Community College on Thursday and then the Lakers host their tournament Friday and Saturday in Estherville.
