Graettinger 116th annual Labor Day celebration starts Friday

Parade starts at 1:45 p.m. Monday

GRAETTINGER - When you've been doing something for 116 years, you're going to get it right.

That's how long Graettinger has been holding its Labor Day celebration, with the 116th annual event this Friday through Monday.

Major events include the demolition derby 4 p.m. Saturday next to North Valley Apartments. Contact Dave Besaw at besaw@netins.net or (712) 209-2273.

A lot of people are looking forward to the antique tractor pull 10 a.m. Sunday at the elevator. Contact Charlie Thiel at cthiel@yourstarnet.net.

Another big Sunday event is the variety show and queen contest at Graettinger-Terril School, along with introduction of the Grand Marshall. Contact Becky Boernke at (507) 382-9383.

The big event Monday and of the entire celebration is the Labor Day parade starting at 1:45 p.m. with 150-plus entries. Contact Teener Hoffman at (712) 480-0642.
