GRAETTINGER - Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire seems to get closer to a victory over week, but sometimes the Titans are their own worst enemy.
GT/RA trailed rival West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate 14-12 at halftime, but the Wolverines had the only two touchdowns in the second half for a 26-14 win.
Where the Titans hurt with penalties as they had 17 for 85 yards.
GT/RA grabbed its first lead of the season when Blaze Alesch connected with Garrett Parker on a 9-yard pass play at the 10:17 mark in the first quarter.
The Wolverines answered in the period with 1-yard run with 2:11 left in the period that made the score 6-6.
A 1-yard run and two-point conversion by the visitors with 6:14 left in the half gave them a 14-6 lead.
Alesch responded with a 57-yard run with 1:53 left in the half to cut the deficit to two.
The Wolverines added their first insurance score on a 1-yard run with 10 seconds left in the third quarter. The final insurance came on a 24-yard pass play with 6:44 left in the game.
The Titans carried the ball 22 times for 138 yards. Alesch had 75 on eight carries. Carter Williamson had 24 yards on 10 carries and Kyle Dalen had 13 yards on four carries.
Alesch was 4-of-11 passing for 29 yards. Parker had the 9-yard touchdown catch and Trevor Hagedorn caught a pass for 20 yards. The other two went for no gain.
Defensively, Zach Chicoine recovered a fumble and Alesch snagged an interception.
Williamson had 18 tackles while Mason McGrauth had 15 and Alesch had 12. Michael Girres came up with nine tackles including a pair of sacks.
The Wolverines carried the ball 61 times for 234 yards and completed seven passes for 142.
GT/RA (0-4 overall, 0-1 in the district) is home in Graettinger next Friday as CAL, Latimer comes to town for the Titans' homecoming.
