Friends of Fort Defiance members met at the park Tuesday to discuss upcoming plans for the second annual Fort Defiance Day 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6.
There will again be an exhibit of nature photos this year. However, this time digital photos will be accepted.
If you would like to share your nature photos, email: email@example.com. When composing your email, in the subject line type "Photo for Fort Defiance Day." In the message, provide the following information: Your name and a brief explanation of the photo. Finally, attach your photo to the email. If you have more than one photo to share, please email each one separately.

Friends President Gary Phillips said Boy Scouts will be doing a Dutch oven cooking demonstration. Also demonstrating will be Rebecca Masters who will talk about organic gardening.
Phillips will demonstrate fly tying and there will be a drawing for a J.D. Speltz print with raffle tickets sold the day of the event.
Some of Phillips' students will be doing poster presentations on various topics, including West Nile Virus, Lyme disease and invasive species. Phillips' students will also do a scavenger hunt for kids.
A barbecue pulled pork sandwich with chips, drink and dessert will be served at the lodge for just $5.
The group will meet again at the lodge 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 to finalize plans.
