SHELDON - The Spirit Lake boys cross country team tied with Spencer with 99 points each with the Tigers holding the tiebreaker at Sheldon.
Will Norris paced the Indians with a first-place finish in 15 minutes, 44 seconds. Tanner Goetsch finished seventh in 16:56, Kyle Anderson placed 17th in 17:25, Mark Norland placed 27th in 17:48 and Jared Brunsvold placed 46th in 18:25.
Also Kyle Kueper placed 56th in 19:07 and CJ Kent was 60th in 19:20.
In the girls' race, Spirit Lake placed seventh. Dondi Schmidt led the team with an eighth-place finish in 15:18. Mariah Wills placed 11th in 15:27; Meghan Wickham placed 43rd in 17:06, Ashley Brooks placed 48th in 17:12 and Rebekah Olson placed 60th in 18:01.
Also Gracen Arms placed 63rd in 18:34 and Kristen Salzwedel placed 71st in 19:25.
Spirit Lake is at Algona next Monday.
Spirit Lake sweeps E'burg
The Spirit Lake volleyball team defeated Emmetsburg in straight sets, 25-15, 25-14, 25-15.
Kendra Stokke led the attack with 12 kills while Bailey Loveall had six.
Paige Krause had 19 set assists. Alissa Christoffer had 18 digs while Stokke had nine. The Indians had 18 ace serves led by Krause with four while Kaela Delperdang, Loveall and Stokke each had three.
Spirit Lake (11-10 overall) is at Cherokee this evening.
